Has Spring finally sprung.....

Well, maybe. We have had almost 8 inches of rain between last weekend and this weekend. It has just not let up. The good news behind that is the blossoming of the trees. They are the only thing that has blossomed so far. Our lilacs are only just beginning to bud.

This tree is not in our yard. It is about a mile from where we live, but this type of tree is everywhere in town and they are all beautiful!!!

Welcome Home....

In my last post I spoke of a gentle man full of grace. Last night, this gentle man heard these words from his Savior:

"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matt. 25:21

He passed away in his sleep last night and although we are the poorer in his passing, the angels are rejoicing and welcoming him home.

"O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law: but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 15:55-57

I look forward to seeing him again some day.

A true view of grace...

We have a wonderful elderly gentleman in our congregation who is coming to the end of his earthly life. He has been a strong and faithful Christian man for many years, sharing his faith, his love, and his smile with everyone he met.

Last night a small group of us went to his home to pray with him and his wife. Before we started praying, one of the men asked him if he had anything specific he wanted us to pray about. This is where true grace comes in...

He replied,"Other people." Even at the closing of his life, his concern is for others.

I can only hope to attain anything even resembling this measure of grace in difficult circumstances.

Happy Mother's Day...

"A hundred year from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of clothes I wore, but the world may be much different because I was important in the life of a child."

To all of the mothers out there, cherish your children at each stage of their lives. They will bring you joy, tears, happiness, frustration, and most of all love.

I love you Shyla & Alyson. Thanks for making me a mom.
