Poor, poor Thanksgiving...

I feel sorry for Thanksgiving. It is the fogotten holiday. Halloween is popular because of all of the candy involved, and Christmas - need I say more??? But retailers and people in general just slide over Thanksgiving.

The local radio stations are already playing Christmas music!!! Can you believe that??? I believe that Christmas music should not be played until at least the day after Thanksgiving, and I refuse to listen to it. When it comes on the radio, I change the channel.

Maybe part of the problem with Thanksgiving is that it isn't self-serving in nature. It is a day set aside to give thanks for the things we have been given: family, friends, homes, health, food, etc. I am standing up for Thanksgiving!!!

Now will you please pass the turkey, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie, and don't forget to turn on the football games!!!!

  1. You'd think we'd be a little more hospitable toward a holiday where the main focus is EATING. Or wait thankfulness, yeah it's thankfulness. That's right. :)

  2. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday for this very reason - aside from the feast, it's about spending time with family and/or friends. I also refuse to listen to Christmas music before around the first part of December...but stores are already playing it so I have had to listen to it.
